3. Directors’ Memorial Lecture

IIT Delhi Alumni Association cordially invite you to the Directors’ Memorial Lecture on 8th November 2006 at Seminar Hall, IIT Delhi. Lecturer will be delivered by Mr. Asim Ghsoh,(69/BT/EL), Managing Director & CEO, Hutch Distinguished Alumni Awardee – 2006. Detailed program will follow shortly.

Mr. Asim Ghosh spent the first decade of his career in marketing with Procter & Gamble in North America, probably as the first Indian ever to join that company in marketing. In 1980, he joined Rothmans International in Canada in their wine and beer businesses where he was eventually Senior Vice President of Business Development and Board Director in one of Canada’s largest breweries. He returned to India in 1989 to set up the Foods operation of Pepsi Foods. He moved to Hong Kong in 1991 to set up a joint venture between Pepsi and Hutchison Whampoa, soon took over the General Management of all of Hutchison Whampoa’s consumer goods businesses, and returned to India yet again in 1998 to take over as Managing Director of Hutchison Whampoa’s telecom JVs in India.

In a way, both the consumer goods experience of the previous years and the technical grounding of the undergraduate years have proved useful. And what can he says about the satisfaction of leading a terrific bunch of colleagues and creating something substantial in one’s own country!”

9. IITDAA Silver Jubilee Reunion Batch 1982.

Dear Friends,

A Silver Jubilee Reunion comes once in a lifetime, and for the batch of '82, this is the year when we will come together again. This will be the opportunity to relive the five years of our youth - our formative years - our glorious past. We will not get another chance to meet so many of our batch-mates who were once an indivisible part of our lives. We hope to meet again the many friends of yesteryears and hope to recognize them after 25 years have gone by. As communicated earlier, the Silver Jubilee Event is being held from the 28th to 30th of December this year, 2006.

All 1982 graduates, PGs (BTech, MS, MTech, PhDs, etc) are invited along with their families.Families are an integral part of this event - they have to see what we have been talking to them about - with their own eyes. You can get your children and spouse to walk the corridors of your hostel and meet with the profs - specially the ones from whom you once kept a long distance. You can take time out to explore the examination halls where you once spent time looking at the ceiling or sideways since the answers to confounding questions were almost always found on other people's scribble sheets. You can do almost whatever you want back at IITD.

Please pull in all those with whom you are in touch, help them make up their minds. We need to make the best of this opportunity. The earlier batches enjoyed every bit of their bash and wanted more. Come and let's make this the best bash of our lives. Most of the details have already been worked out and the program is also given below. However, suggestions/ ideas are welcome for any minor changes in the schedule/ events.
